U.S. MDs welcome International Medical Graduates (IMGs)

When the ink was dry on the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA, or TLC in Spanish), a list of 30 or so professionals could receive work visas to travel relatively freely among the U.S., Canada and Mexico. This list included a range of health professionals, including physical and occupational therapists, nutritionists, and registered nurses. Physicians were conspicuously limited to only teaching or research...no practicing.

On November 8, 2010 the Institute of California and Universidad de Guadalajara signed an agreement to formalize their joint project "Licenciatura Virtual Bilingüe en Enfermería"

ENEO published letter mentioning IOC

Luz Gonzalez was the very first Licenciada en Enfermería y Obstetricia (LEO) graduated from ENEO (Escuela Nacional de Enfermería y Obstetricia, UNAM) enrolled with IOC Bilingual-RN Program and the first IOC "graduated" that passed the NCLEX test.

She successfully completed her 2 year work contract with IOC. After that she was hired directly by Kaiser Permanente Hospital, where she was placed by IOC.

UNAM Los Angeles and IOC candidate making History

Read the following article published on the "Gaceta UNAM", the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México's official news publication in which is mentioned how one of our candidates presented her Examen Profesional via videoconference.

While she was on UNAM campus in Los Angeles the academic jury members were in the ENEO (Escuela Nacional de Enfermería y Obstetricia) campus on Mexico City.

Yes, You Really Do Need to Speak English

It has to be the first question our recruiters are asked: Do I REALLY need to speak English well? And the answer, quite frankly is YES. And it should be a higher level English than the conversations you may be able to have with your typical English-speaking acquaintances. After 20 years, a Nursing Degree with Honorable Distinction!

For many of you Mexican nurses, you know the process of attaining your degree quite well: you go to school, do your mandatory year of Social Service and you present you Professional Exam in order for you to obtain your Nursing Degree. Reminder to Renew I-94s

It is extremely important that all people in the United States on any Visa must renew their I-94s as specified. For tourist visas, the typical I-94 is given for 6 months. If you overstay these six months, Immigration considers you to have violated the conditions of your Visa.

This may come up later, if you ever want to emigrate to the United States. It may even come up when you want to renew your Tourist Visa.
